Speechless.
Thats the only way to describe the way I felt after reading "Primal. A Quest for the Lost Soul of Christianity" by Mark Batterson.
I follow Pastor Battersons blog and find him to be a very inspired leader who always leaves his reader with a compelling thought. But this? This was unexpected.
I'm a loner. I always have been. Sure I have friends and loved ones. But there are only a few people I can really say know & understand me. For me everything begins and ends with my heart; the heart of a psalmist. With every page of this book I had to remind myself that I wasnt reading from the pages of Psalms or Proverbs because this actually felt like a worship devotional rather than a book meant to inspire the reader to get back to the basics of this "religion" called Christianity.
Then it hit me. Worship....the TRUE spirit of worship...to be awed, filled with wonder, and so overwhelmed with expression that either no words can be spoken at all or tears begin to fall from one's face....that truly is the basis of Christianity.
God loved us so much...that he GAVE.
wow.
and in serving him we should be overwhelmed by His love that we cant help but GIVE.
Forget the rules.
Forget the traditions.
Forget the pomp and circumstance.
this walk of christianity is about CHRIST.
Simple yet resounding.
I'd recommend this book to pastors, worship leaders, new believers, and the man selling dope on the corner. ANYONE can GET THIS. Its just that powerful but simple.
Get it...TODAY!
